Plein Air art is landscapes painted outdoors usually in one or two short sessions. The painting technique was influenced by the French impressionist painters that wanted to capture fleeting natural light changes. Usually
it is done rapidly with larger brushes and looser strokes and less attention to detail than studio painting.
Often these small landscapes are studies for larger paintings done later in the artist's studio.
